THREE WAYS TO START

  • At PAWS'itive Pals Dog Training, our Basic Obedience course is where effective communication with your dog begins. We differentiate ourselves by working with the physiology and instincts of our canine companions, using positive reinforcement methods.

In our Basic Obedience course, you will learn how to train your dog on important vocal commands such as Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Watch Me, Leave It, and Loose Lead Walking. We believe in practical training, so we use real-life scenarios to assess the skills you and your dog have learned. This assessment, called "Town Training," takes place in the dog-friendly Downtown Grass Valley area. Successfully completing this course will prepare you and your dog for the AKC Canine Good Citizenship test.

We understand that each dog and owner have their own unique learning curve and background. If you are starting with behavioral concerns, you will begin to see significant improvement by week 3 of the course.

To ensure success, we encourage you to dedicate at least 40 minutes a day for training your dog, and the course runs for a minimum of 5 weeks with one session per week. Our goal is to make sure that when you graduate, your dog can perform the trained tasks, remain manageable in crowded environments, handle distractions, and accompany you on various outings such as running errands in town, visiting a dog park, or enjoying a dog beach.

Our small group classes accommodate up to 6 dogs in a series. During the summer, classes are held outdoors, and during the winter, we move indoors to continue training.

By joining our Basic Obedience course at PAWS'itive Pals, you will gain the necessary skills to effectively communicate with your dog and build a strong foundation of obedience and behavior.

  • We are excited to offer 1:1 Training sessions to provide personalized attention and address specific training needs for you and your furry companion. Before booking a 1:1 Training session, we kindly ask that you start with a Peaceful Integration appointment. During this appointment, we will assess your companion and create an individualized educational plan tailored to their needs. Please note that the Peaceful Integration service does not include the owner.

1:1 Training sessions are 50 minutes long, with an additional 10-minute cushion to ensure that both you and your pal understand the tasks at hand. In each session, you will work on two separate skills, focusing on the areas that require attention. We evaluate your companion's needs and create an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) for you to follow.

If you prefer this option for you and your companion, please indicate your preference during the registration process. We will then schedule a phone consultation to get you started. In-home training sessions are priced at $100 per hour, and this rate applies to locations within a 10-mile radius of our facility.

We are dedicated to providing you and your furry companion with the highest quality training experience, whether it's at our facility or in the comfort of your own home.

  • At PAWS’itive Pals we understand that not ALL dogs have the same skill set, let us help your pal develop some healthy social skills to engage properly with people and other dogs. We offer this course to those pals that need that extra effort, training and management. These classes are offered 2x each week, of which your pal can partake in both. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we use our reliable pal pack members to train your pal the manners they need.
